Clean Energy Charge

The Clean Energy Future Scheme, commonly known as the Carbon Tax, is a scheme introduced by the Australian Government to place a cost on greenhouse gas emissions. The scheme will affect electricity prices as a very large proportion of electricity in Australia comes from power generation that has significant greenhouse gas emissions. The scheme puts a price on carbon pollution, creating a powerful incentive for all businesses to cut their pollution by investing in clean technology or finding more efficient ways of operating.

As at 1 July 2014 the Clean Energy Future Scheme has been removed and the charge is no longer applicable to electricity supply. All energy retailers should remove this charge. IUtilities will act in accordance with the processes of the electricity retailers and pass on any removal of the charge.
